Q.: I recently adopted a kitten with all of the characteristics of the Russian Blue. Is this breed less likely to bother people with allergies or doesn't it make any difference? A.: Hi! Unfortunately there is no specific breed which can be said never to bother allergic people nor to bother them less than other breeds. :-( The reason is that it is very individual which "component" of the cat one is allergic to. Some are allergic to the underwool, some to the "cover hairs", and others to the cat's saliva (which is found all over the cat's fur coat). This is why the only way to be sure is to be tested by a specialist in allergic diseases with a sample from the cat in question. |
