Q.: Our cat is bleeding from its behind - it's not possible for us to see which orifice, we can just tell from where she sits. It has started today. She makes quite a few stains. She was in heat 7 weeks ago and we saw her mating, but we don't think there are the signs we should expect from literature and FAQ, like visibly larger nipples, bigger belly, or bigger appetite. What do you think can be the reason? Could she be pregnant still?
A.: I don't think she can be pregnant if there are no signs seven weeks after the mating.
I don't feel qualified to guess what could be wrong, but I think you should try to get an appointment with the vet tomorrow.
Bleeding does never occur as a normal part of a cycle in female cats like it does in dogs, who bleed a little when they are in heat.
Therefore there is always something wrong, when a female cat is bleeding, although it doesn't necessarily have to be something serious.
