Other Behavior Issues

Q.: My cat poops and pees in his cat carrier whenever I have to take him somewhere in the car. It's a total mess. Any suggestions besides avoiding car trips?

A.: If it's only when riding in the car, and he is otherwise confident about his carrier, I would suggest you talk to the vet about medication against travel-sickness. This medication also has a sedative side effect, which may be useful as well in this situation. It is important, however, that it is given at least an hour before the ride to work properly.
