Q.: Hi! Our kitten has recently started to take her bowel movements on the floor on the opposite side of the room from her litter box. She hasn't had any problems with this before, and she seems to do it only at night.
We mop the floor constantly to get rid of any strange smells she might be trying to cover up, and we took her to the vet and she got a clean bill of health.
We haven't changed her food or litter recently. Any ideas why she's doing this, or better yet, how to get her to stop?
A.: First, try to place an extra litter box where she is "doing the deed".
If this doesn't work within a week or two, write me again and tell me, if any change in your home environment has occurred, that might have anything to do with this behavior (new neighbors, new baby, anything).
