Q.: I am wondering if my sweet, quiet, very loving and playful cat is a Russian Blue; this is because she is black with shiny, silky soft fur and the undercoat is plush and a little lighter in color. Also her skin color at times looks bluish and her eyes are a golden yellow with a green ring around the pupil.
A.: It is almost impossible to determine for sure, especially when one hasn't seen the cat.
But apart from the looks there are several indicators in temper and behavior: RBs observe the situation and their surroundings carefully before taking action, while other cats may just "jump ahead". Also RBs have a subtle way of dominating their humans by using refined psychological manipulation, something I haven't seen quite like that in any other breed.
However, RBs don't have cover fur that can be distinguished from the undercoat, because cover hairs and undercoat hairs are the same length. That means that all of their coat is plush and "standing up".
There might very well be some Russian Blue in your kitty, but it's probably mixed up with something else.
P.S. The green circle around the pupil may very well expand with age and become the final eye color.
