Other Behavior Issues

Q.: I've got a cat named Nico, he is neutered and declawed. I have recently moved, from being with just him and me, now in with four other people, and one other cat (also male and 1 1/2 years old).
My cat has never been the cuddling lap kind of cat, but now seems somewhat nervous. The other cat in the house doesn't run from things like my cat does.
I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help him NOT be nervous and running from things? He sure does come when the treats are shaken though. Hes not all that shy, just with loud noises or people walking by.
Do you think it's because its not just him and me anymore, but because there's so much more around him?

A.: You know, cats are like people: some are better at handling inconstancy than others, and some simply need more time than others to adapt to new circumstances.
This may well be the case with your cat. Show him you love him like I'm sure you've always done, and you have done what you can.
If you're lucky, he'll learn from the other cat not to be so nervous.
