Just Wondering

Q.: Why does my cat "knead" with its front paws when I stroke it?

A.: It is "milking you"! If one day you should have the opportunity to see a litter of kittens suckling their mother, you will notice that they milk her with the exact same movements you have noticed your adult cat use.
An adult cat who is really having a cozy time obviously reminisces its kittenhood when it suckled its mother. It probably also has something to do with that way our cats see us - as a kind of "surrogate mother", so they act accordingly: they purr at us (adult cats hardly ever purr to each other, while kittens and mothers purr to each other frequently), they expect that we give them food (they would never expect that from another adult cat), etc.
