Q.: I have two neutered males of which one has started eliminating everywhere indoors, but only feces. He must obviously urinate outside because he never uses the litter box inside.
His bowel works fine, the cats are good friends and come from the same place, there are no signs of sexual maturing and the cat seems to be thriving. There have of course been many new things for him to get used to i.e. a dog and horses and two tom cats that they have become good friends with.
What can be done?
A.: Here are a few small tricks you can try out to start with (otherwise I have a few more up my sleeve):
- - place some of the feces you find into the litter boxes (if possible while the cat is watching)
- - praise the cat and stroke him if he shows the slightest interest in the litter boxes
- - sometimes place the cat in a litter box while you praise and stroke him
- - if you see the cat looking curiously at the litter box, try giving it a careful and loving push in his behind so it will go in there - and praise him for doing so even though he doesn’t actually do anything in there
Please write and tell me how things work out!
