Sex Life and Life After That

Q.: I live in a complex and noticed a stray male wandering around. It took me a few months but I finally got him to trust me and I have since introduced him into my flat with my other cats. He is very dominant and only comes to me. He is about 7 or 8 and the day I decided he was going to live with us (about 1 year back) I took him to be neutered. My problem is that he still urinates everywhere !!!! He won't use the sand box and I have honestly never seen him sit and urinate like my other males. Will he ever stop or is there a way I can teach him to not do it inside the house ??

A.: In a few cases, some fertile behavior remains although a male has been neutered. This is due to the fact that sexual hormones are not only produced in the sexual glands, i.e. testicles and ovaries, but also in some tissue in the adrenal glands. In these cases, the cat will need an ati-hormone cure, so you will need to talk to your vet about it.
