Pregnancy, Birth, and Kittens

Q.: Hello, I have a female cat that is 8 months old and lately she has been eating a lot and her belly is getting bigger.
Her nipples are not that big and they're just pink. Could she still be pregnant. Because my father says that it could be just that she could be just growing. Because she is still kind of small.
So all I really want to know is that can my cat be pregnant?

A.: It is possible that she is pregnant - a female cat's first heat is often so weak the owner doesn't notice it. But it is not necessarily too weak to get pregnant on!
But a pregnant cat's belly doesn't start getting bigger until half-ways through pregnancy. That means that she would have had to have been mated when she was only seven months old - which is not unheard of, but still unusual.
I can think of two other possible reasons for her big belly:
One is she might have an attack of worms, so if she's not already been dewormed, I think you should try that. Another is that when young cats grow, they have a tendency to do it "in bursts". In a growing "burst" they tend to look a little skinny despite good appetite because all calories are spent on growing. In between "bursts" they may become quite fat because a lot of them keep up the same appetite as when they were growing. The only one who can tell you for sure if your cat is pregnant is a veterinarian.
