Q.: First of all: I think it is a good site you've made.
I have written to your Questions and Answers once before about my male cat and early neutering.
Today it is about this:
The cat has developed a lot since he was neutered. He has grown much bigger and heavier and looks "grown-up".
The lower part of his belly skin looks as if it is sagging (or forms a bag).
Now I have seen the pictures of your cats. Your very handsome Russian Blue male also seems to have a "bag" like that;
Are male cats supposed to look like that?
A.: Most male cats have a bag like that. I don't think anyone really knows why; my own theory is that it gives a certain protection of the internal organs against the claws of the opponent during the at times very violent fights male cats are having over the females.
Anyway it has rarely anything to do with overweight, in most cases the "bag" turns out to consist merely of skin and fur.
