Other Behavior Issues

Q.: My Russian Blue, named Bella, fights and cries when you try to take her out of the home. It is almost impossible to get her to the vet without becoming embarrassed by her torturous cries. Is this a characteristic of her breed? I can't even get her within three feet of the front door.

A.: No, this is not characteristic of Russian Blues (not particularly anyway). Some cats just are like that: the species as a whole tend to be very conservative and put a lot of emphasis on everything being as it used to be. Small animals of any species are like that, because it is easier to be prepared for possible dangers on your territory if your life is scheduled and easily surveyed. This feature is of course more distinct in some individuals than in others.
The only advice I can give you is to not give in to your cat nor to your own embarrassment and bring her to the vet whenever it's necessary.
If by now you're thinking "Easy for him to say!" you're absolutely right :-) I'm not good as this myself and I'm an easy target for cats who know how to manipulate their owner this way ....
But they go to vet when I feel they should (and I feel like a mean scoundrel all the way ;-))
