Other Behavior Issues

Q.: I live in a residence hall on the second floor. That's why I have a "cat ladder" outside my window which my cat (Lukas) uses to get in and out. It works perfectly and we have never had problems.
Almost a year ago a new cat (Victor) moved into the residence hall, but not until last night did Victor climb the cat ladder and enter my room. Today he's been here three times, and I'm sure he'll be back.
Luckily Lukas and Victor are friends, and my cat almost doesn't notice that he's there (I do, however, worry a lot about the possibility that my cat may take offence and turn his back on me, if I don't do something). What can I do to wean Victor from climbing Lukas' ladder? He eats Lukas' food, you see, and I don't like the idea of Lukas eating something other cats have eating off of. In a way this is kind of cute, but I don't want to lose my extremely fine relationship with my cat because Victor comes "gate-crashing" all the time..

A.: Is there any way of "dismounting" the ladder, when Lukas isn't using it?
Otherwise there are not so many other possibilities than to throw Victor out (off course without harming him;-)) every time he comes around. I'm sure he'll "get the message" sooner or later, even though it may take some time. "Obstinacy, thy name is Cat"!
I'm not sure Lukas will take offence, but if he feels that Victor takes anything of his from him, I'm sure he'll be "man enough" to explain to Victor who really lives here.
If your cat is up to date on his vaccinations, by the way, I don't think you need to worry about Victor eating from Lukas' food. The worst that can happen is that they can give each other worms, which is relatively easy to get rid of.
