Health Issues

Q.: My 5 month old male cat has vomited - three times in three days. Twice he vomited a large portion of undigested food. He also has a slightly dark secrete from one eye. Otherwise he is as he usually is, very playful.
What is wrong with him?

A.: To take the most important thing first: I think you should call your vet as soon as (s)he opens again.
Judging from what you have told me it is very difficult to say what could be wrong. But with a cat of that age one could suspect that he has swallowed something (a piece of string, some thread, etc) which could be blocking the digestion system and not allowing food to "be processed through the system" but has to throw it back up again. An "old fashioned" constipation can also have this effect.
About the secrete from the eye - it could be that he has been exposed to draught. But if it continues to return when you dry it away it could be some sort of infection. If the cat becomes ill before your usual vet opens you should call the duty vet. Many vets are in a duty co-operation, so if you call your vet when (s)he isn’t open you will be referred to the vet on duty.
