Q.: White kitten - seems to have hearing problems. Is this common?
A.: Hearing problems and even deafness is more common among white cats than among cats with any other color. Totally white cats with blue eyes have the highest risk, followed by totally white cats with other eye colors, then partly white cats with any eye color. Cats with absolutely no white on them have the lowest risk, which doesn't mean their risk is zero.
A cat with bad or no hearing at all may have a good life anyway but should be kept strictly as an indoor cat, since cats use their hearing to become aware of outdoor hazards like passing cars etc.
